A Bolivian Salt Lake or also known as Salar De Uyuni or Bolivian Salt flat is a wonder of its own. The vast plain of land is covered with residue of salt which a part of inland lake. This is the world largest salt flats extending to four thousand miles. The beauty is magnificent which makes it a popular destination. Getting to this place involves traveling miles and miles. Although this is the case, the effort is worth it. You would want to visit this destination during summer. During the rainy season, the plains can be flooded with water that rises a few feet.

The best months to visit starts from may until February. This is where the water evaporates. The closest airport to this destination is La Paz which the capital of the country. Because of the altitude, first time visitors often feel ill but after several hours they can get better. After reaching La Paz, you would need to take train or bus going to Uyuni which a town where Bolivian Salt Lake is located. There are some private busses that you can ride which is less crowded. It is best to let your travel agency secure a ticket for you.

The bus ride is rough and bumpy. You can also take the train which is comfortable but will take about 7 hours. Be sure to allow delays on your trip which is very common. Select a tour company that can take you to Bolivia Salt Lake. There are packages that would include meals and accommodations. There are four by four vehicles that you can hire but they are expensive. You need to choose the right agency that is not only after your money. You need to bring necessary items like sunglasses and sleeping bags if you are planning to stay overnight.
